I love to read
Artforum, and I love to read
Frieze. They’re two of the best, most professional and thoughtful magazines on art around. The September issue of the latter has some particularly interesting reviews of recent exhibitions by
Banks Violette and
Dash Snow, perhaps some of the most insightful and bitingly funny commentary on these artists’ work. Both reviewers manage to criticize both the art and the art-world hype, shedding light on the vacuousness of the latter while taking a good look at the former, the actual stuff. You know, art. And what it’s all about.
